Key deadlines approaching for CPAs, businesses and business owners

There are a number of important dates to take note of as we approach the end of yet another calendar year. Of course, you’ve got your eyes on the various tax deadlines related to the upcoming filing requirements, whether for yourself, clients or businesses.
But there are an additional number of fairly critical deadlines on the calendar in the coming 14 months that will make an impact on many people.
Here’s a look at them:

Minnesota Board of Accountancy deadlines, including:
- CPA certificate renewal
All CPAs certified in Minnesota.
- CPE reporting
Active CPAs licensed prior to July 1, 2023, and CPAs changing from active to inactive, exempt or retired status. Reporting period: July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2024.
- Firm permit renewal
CPA firms and sole proprietors.

Minnesota-specific employment laws go into effect
- Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Program
Small, private employers (5-plus employees) must provide a retirement program through the state if they do not currently offer a formal retirement plan.
- Pay Transparency Law
Employers with more than 30 employees must include the starting salary range, general description of benefits and other compensation details within any job posting.
