In Memoriam
Longtime member Mike Casserly, Sr., CPA passed away. He was 83 years old. An MNCPA member of 50 years, Mike was an active member of several committees, including the Federal Issues Task Force, State Board of Accountancy Task Force, among others. He also served as chair of the PAC Board of Trustees and chair of the Legislative Issues Committee.
Mike’s passion for the profession earned him the MNCPA’s Legacy Award in 2008, which recognizes long-standing MNCPA members who have made significant contributions to the accounting profession through volunteer activities at the MNCPA, and the Special Service award in 2016, for his long-standing service to the society’s government relations program and the PAC board of trustees.
Fellow committee member, Jim Nichols, CPA, described Mike as someone who “represented our profession so well in many Minnesota legislative leadership caucasus over the last three decades. He was instrumental in successfully promoting the MNCPA’s legislative issues. We have a lot of fond memories of working with him and while he will be dearly missed, he will be remembered and cherished.”
Carl Peterson, CPA, another longtime task force member, said Mike “always had empathy, along with practical thoughts and insights that he readily shared in meetings. Not only was he someone whose business and tax advice I respected, Mike was also someone I would go to for his thoughts beyond business advice.”
